Someone Nonthinking, 2015, acrylic on canvas, 68" x 68"
Eihei Dogen (1200-1252), "Muchu Setsumu"
"DreamMakIng" cultivates the nondual process of zazen practice-realization in Dogen's Zen. In this means-in-end dynamic of radical relatedness, self and universe temporally conjoin, in and through emptiness — "All-things-themselves-are-ultimate-reality". The symbol is the symbolized.
Through the grid structure's means-in-end process of centripetal and centrifugal completion, dynamic anthropo-cosmic expressions and activities of zazen practice-realization are explored.
The dream within a dream includes confluences such as: dialogical communion (Someone Nonthinking), direct and immediate access (Affirmation and What Is This That Comes Thus), equilibrium (The Steelyard), time passage (Spring/Peony Flower and Ten Directions In Three Times), intimacy (Entwined Vines), reflexivity (Enso and Reflexivity), concurrent reciprocation, (As One Side Is Illumined...), past and future present (Simultaneity), and language/the universe (The Long and The Short).
